i have a blood fast report but do not totally understand it. Shows a HDLC of 62 with cholesterol of 158and triglycerides of 138 ldl of 68vldl of 28 and a chol/dhdl of 3 it says my rates are high for 57 yr old female. i wanted to understand completely but it seems most websites look at these rates differntly than my readout reports...?

Total cholesterol is 158 mg/dl ( Upto 200 is normal). LDL cholesterol is 68 (normal range up to 100 mg) Triglyceride level is 138 ( Normally it should be below 150 mg/dl) VLDL is 28 ( Normally it should be less than 30) Total cholesterol to HDL ratio is 3 This should be less than 5.
Thus all your parameters are good. Eat lot of fresh fruits and vegetables to maintain the normal lipid levels. Wishing you best of your health.
